Lloyd A. Pilkington died on Thursday, June 20, 2013, at Mercy Hospice House. A funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, June 24, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in North English with Rev. Joseph Roost presiding. Visitation will be on Sunday, June 23rd, from 3 PM to 6 PM with a Rosary at 6 PM and a time of sharing afterwards at the Powell Funeral Home in North English. Burial will be in the Armah Cemetery, rural North English. A memorial fund has been established for Dollars For Scholars and Mercy Hospice. Pilkington was born on June 14, 1928, near What Cheer, Iowa, the son of Carl and Cedella Middleton Pilkington. He graduated from Thornburg High School in 1947. Lloyd farmed and lived at his grandfathers farm for 11 years and has since lived at his current residence north of North English. Lloyd married Frances Van Dee on April 7, 1948, at Immaculate Conception Church at Armah. Besides farming Lloyd worked at Carder Roller Mills for four years and at Amana Refrigeration for eight years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Farm Bureau since 1950, and was an avid Cubs and Iowa fan. He had a great love for attending his family's activities and ball games. Lloyd is survived by his wife Frances of North English; son Gary (Betsy) Pilkington of North English; daughter Ronda (Dave) Heck of Marengo; and son Randy (Patrice) Pilkington of Waterloo; seven grandchildren: Anne (Brad) Montana, John Pilkington, Mary Pilkington, Hayley (Cory) Yearian, Sonya (Danny) Maas, Wesley (Sarah) Pilkington and Abigail Pilkington; and six great grandchildren: Bryce, Jenna, Jordyn, Colton & Dakota Yearian, and Leighton Maas. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Norma Hedge.
