Lloyd A. Orr, 93, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Park Place Elder Living. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017, from 12 noon until 6:00 p.m., at Olson~Powell Memorial Chapel of Mt. Pleasant. Military rites will be accorded at 3:00 p.m., by the Henry County Honor Guard, after which the family will greet friends until 5:00 p.m. that afternoon. Following visitation, cremation will be accorded. Graveside services and burial will be at a later date in Kossuth Cemetery. Gifts of love and friendship may be given to American Heart Association or HCI (Hospice) Care Services. On-line condolences may be directed to www.olsonpowell.com.Born October 26, 1923, in Delaware County, IA, Lloyd Andrew was the son of Charles Joseph and Louise Bertha Eggerman Orr. Lloyd attended Mediapolis and Yarmouth Schools. On October 27, 1942, Lloyd married Lola May Calhoun. They later divorced. Lloyd enlisted with the Navy Air Corps in 1942. He was discharged after WWII in December 1945. He married Naomi Ruth Johnston on November 21, 1951. They also divorced. Prior to his service to his country, Lloyd worked at the Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown, IA. He was a press operator for John Deere, as well as a machinist at Bear Manufacturing and Reynolds Engineering, both in Rock Island, IL. Always wanting to work with tools, Lloyd opened his own television, appliance, and used furniture store in Milan. He worked for Burkhart Appliance in New London, IA and Murray Engineering in Burlington, IA. In 1970, Lloyd opened Orr Electric in Mt. Pleasant, working as a repairman, before retiring in 1990. Lloyd was a member of the Knights of Pythians and the American Legion, both in Milan. He was a member of the V.F.W. in New London and Mt. Pleasant, as well as the Moose Lodge in Mt. Pleasant. Lloyd was privileged to participate in the Veteran's Honor Tour to Washington, DC. He had an extensive keychain collection. Loving surviving family members are three daughters, Regina (Larry) Allen of Lockridge, IA, Deborah Sue (Chris) Oliver of O'Fallen, MO, and Cheryl Orr of Mt. Pleasant, IA; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Lola Jean Harmon and Sally Jo Orr, who died in infancy; five sisters, Karolena Orr, LaVonda Miller, Dorothy Burns, Mary Thomas, and Arlene Seager; and two brothers, Paul Orr and Joseph Orr.
