Linda M. Kiene, 74, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics surrounded by her loving family.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 13, 2017, from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m., at Olson~Powell Memorial Chapel of Mt. Pleasant. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., that same day, at Olson~Powell Memorial Chapel with Pastor Earl Swigart officiating. Following the service, Linda will be cremated. Burial will be at a later date in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Gifts of love and friendship may be given to Carcinoid Cancer Foundation or Great River Hospice. Born January 10, 1943, in Mt. Pleasant, Linda Mae was the daughter of Dwight L. and Mildred Lois Swan Neil. She was a 1961 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. On August 20, 1977, she married Joe Kiene, at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA.
For 22 years, Linda worked as a secretary for Garretson Equipment. She then was a billing clerk at Community Mental Health, and at the time of her retirement in 2006, she was employed at Design Engineering as a secretary.
Spending time with family, especially her grandchildren, was a priority for Linda. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Linda was a great cook, a true friend, and a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Iowa Hawkeyes. She enjoyed playing Canasta and other types of card games, putting puzzles together, and having coffee on Thursday morning with friends at Ashford Park in the clubhouse. Linda liked to take a ride in the country and vacation in Florida and Myrtle Beach, where she collected shark teeth on the beach.
Along with her loving husband, Joe, of 40 years, Linda is survived by two children, Lisa (Dave) Russell of Ankeny, IA and Lonnie Lampe of Dallas, TX; a sister, Kay (Marvin) Miller of Tipton, IA; and two grandchildren, Brandon Neil Russell and Alyssa Marie Lampe.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents.
