SIGOURNEY-Lillian Williamson, age 96, of Sigourney, died Friday, March 19, 2010, at the Sigourney Care Center. Lillian was born June 11, 1913, in Tama County, Iowa, to James and Theresa (Kvidera) Kubik. She graduated from Reinbeck High School and attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. Lillian then taught at rural schools and at Greeley and Sigourney, where she met her husband. On June 1, 1939 she was united in marriage to Laurence "L.E." Williamson at her parents' home, by Rev. Leo Potter. The couple made their home in Sigourney where Lillian was an active member of the Sigourney Christian Church, CWF, TTT, Literature Club, OES and served on the Sigourney Public Library board for 12 years. She enjoyed reading and traveling. Survivors include two daughters: Marcia Nestler and husband Ken of Eldridge and Amy Scudder and husband Jim of Fenton, Missouri; four grandchildren: Craig and Renee Nestler and Jeffrey (Vanessa) and Andrew Scudder; one great granddaughter: Claire Scudder; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Laurence in 2003; brother: Lester Kubik and sister: Helen Soska. Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at the Sigourney Christian Church, with Rev. Jim Bringman officiating. Burial will be at Sixteen Cemetery near Thornburg. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney. A memorial fund has been established for the Sigourney Public Library, Sigourney Christian Church or Hospice of Keokuk County. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Sigourney is caring for Lillian and her family.
