WILLIAMSBURG, formerly of Homestead ~ Lillian Adella Mathilde Wichmann, was born February 9, 1922, in York Township, Iowa County, Iowa, the daughter of John George and Louise M. (Kleinmeyer) Huedepohl Jr. On March 8, 1942, she was united in marriage to Orville Adolph Wichmann, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in York Township. After they were married they lived on the farm near Homestead for 63 years, until moving to Williamsburg in 2005. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Homestead, where she was active in the Ladies Aid. She volunteered as a teaching aid at the Lutheran Interparish School. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and quilting with the Ladies Aid. Lillian died on Monday, August 18, 2008, at the Highland Ridge Care Center in Williamsburg, following an extended illness, at the age of 86 years, 6 months and 9 days. She is survived by her husband Orville of Williamsburg; 6 children- Carol (Mark) Nissen, Allen (Peggy) Wichmann all of Des Moines, Patricia (Bob) Lillis of Williamsburg, Mary (Bob) Hudson of Fairfax and Connie (Steve) Schmuecker of Cedar Rapids; and David (Barbara) Wichmann of Homestead; 12 grandchildren- Brandi (Josh) Knopfel, Tyler Nissen, Brian (Monica)Lillis, Shelly (Ryan) Modracek, Marcy (Kurt) Weber, Jason (Julie) Lillis, Eric Hudson, Rachel Lillis, Katy Wichmann, Alissa Schmuecker, Andy Wichmann and Austin Schmuecker; 3 great grandchildren- Owen Lillis, Rob Lillis and Evan Knopfel.; and a sister-in-law Joanne Huedepohl of Williamsburg. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers Harlan Huedepohl and Milton Huedepohl; and a sister-in-law Zelma Huedepohl. Celebration of Life Services will be held 10:30 A.M. on Friday, August 22, 2008, at St. John's Lutheran Church near Homestead. Pastor Wayne Woolery will officiate. Burial will be in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg.
