Leta L. Miller was born June 24, 1924 near Kalona, Iowa, the daughter of Manas and Lydia (Miller) Brenneman. She attended Prairie Dale rural school. In her youth she accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized. On February 6, 1944 she was united in marriage to Paul W. Miller at the Fairview Mennonite Church in rural Kalona. They made their home in rural Wellman where Leta was a homemaker. She was a member of the Upper Deer Creek Mennonite Church and she volunteered at the Crowded Closet. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, flowers quilting, bird watching and reading. Leta died on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at her home in Wellman at the age of 87 years. Leta is survived by her husband Paul of Wellman; six children - Larry Miller (Sharon) of Wellman; Karen Kahler (Larry) of North Liberty; Donald Miller (Tamara) of Wellman; Sanford Miller (Mary Lou) of Millersburg, IN; James Miller (Ramona) of Wellman; Scott Miller of Wellman; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; two brothers - Dale Brenneman of Kalona; Leroy Brenneman of Kalona; and a sister Ruth Hershberger of Wellman. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters - Amanda Nafziger, Fannie Miller, an infant; and five brothers - Norman Brenneman, Edwin Brenneman, Robert Brenneman, Ezra Brenneman, and Floyd Brenneman. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2011, at the Upper Deer Creek Mennonite Church in rural Wellman. Pastor Elmer Miller will officiate. Burial will be in the Upper Deer Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. on Friday at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman where the family will greet friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for Upper Deer Creek Mennonite Church and Iowa City Hospice.
