LeRoy Canott was born August 10, 1944 in Tampa, Florida, the son of Roy and Neely (Tharpe) Canott. He was a Mid Prairie High School graduate and lived the majority of his life in Wellman and Iowa City. He was a member of Eagles Lodge #695 in Iowa City. LeRoy worked for 31 years at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics as a maintenance mechanic. He retired to The Villages, Florida in 2011. LeRoy passed away Friday, January 17, 2014 at the Leesburg Regional Medical Center in Leesburg, Florida at the age of 69 years. LeRoy is survived by a son Todd Canott of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Todd's mother Pam and daughter Chloe, a sister Cora Fulk of The Villages, Florida, a brother Jerry Canott of Conesville, Iowa, and the families of Teresa Thomann and Janet Duncan. LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents. A graveside service will be held at a later date in the Wellman Cemetery. The Powell Funeral Home in Wellman is in charge of the arrangements.
