Leonard A. Noll, 94, formerly of Stockport, IA passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at Arbor Court in Mt. Pleasant, IA.
Visitation will begin at 12 noon on Friday, March 15, 2019, at Olson~Powell Memorial Chapel of Mt. Pleasant, with the family greeting friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, March 16, 2019, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, in Mt. Pleasant, with Reverend Paul Connolly, celebrant. Interment will be in Vale Cemetery, north of Bonaparte, IA. Born, November 2, 1924, at Winchester, KS, Leonard Albert was the son of Albert F., Jr. and Lucy Elizabeth (Schmidling) Noll. He graduated from Winchester High School in 1942. On June 18, 1949, in Winchester, KS Leonard married Lois Alberta Phelps.
Leonard began farming and raising his family in Winchester, before moving to Iowa in 1956 to continue his lifelong passion to farm the land, raise beef cattle, and run a large hog operation.
A 60-year member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Houghton, IA, Leonard was also an active 4-H leader and on the Extension Council. He served on the Republican Central Committee. Leonard was devoted to his family and developed a picnic and camping area in the pasture for reunions and family gatherings. He enjoyed constructing buildings on his farm with lumber made from his timber.
Along with his wife, Leonard is survived by one daughter, Rev. Cheryl (Maj. USA (Ret) Lee) Maxfield of Atlanta, GA; five sons, Russell (Kathy) Noll of Hillsboro, IA, Ronald (Diane, DVM) Noll of New London, IA, Steven (Linda) Noll of Lisbon, IA, Christopher (Brenda) Noll of Bonaparte, IA, and Capt. USN Daniel (Kamar) Noll of Jacksonville, FL; three sisters, Lucille Noll of Winchester, KS, Dorothy Beletsky of Shawnee Mission, KS, and Rita (Dick) Farmer of Olathe, KS; two brothers, Robert (Elizabeth) Noll of Winchester, KS, and Harold Noll of Winchester, KS; a sister-in-law, Shirley Noll of Winchester, KS; 18 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
Leonard is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Deborah Noll; three brothers, Lloyd (Norma) Noll, Joe Noll, and Richard Noll, and a brother-in-law, Ron Beletsky.
