Williamsburg- Leonard Leo Meyer was born March 9, 1944 near Williamsburg, Iowa the son of Floyd G. and Alice E. (Mumm) Meyer. He was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Conroy. Leonard worked at the Landmark Handimart for several years before going to work at the Brick House Restaurant in Amana. He also worked for a number of area restaurants. Leonard lived most of his life in Conroy until he moved to Williamsburg a few years ago. He enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Conroy. Leonard died Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at The Bird House Hospice House in Iowa City at the age of 73 years.
He is survived by two sisters: Della Stevens of Deep River and Ruth Melsa of Marengo; a brother: Richard (Marietta) Meyer of Parnell; two sisters-in law: Annette Meyer of Marengo and Marcella Meyer of Walker and 17 nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers: David, Vernon, Edward, Floyd, Melvin and a stillborn John; three brothers-in-laws: Raymond Martin, Leonard Melsa and Orman Stevens and two nieces: Sarah Meyer and Linda Meyer.
Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 am Friday, June 30, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Conroy. Burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. Memorials are for the Bird House Hospice House of Iowa City.
