Williamsburg-Leona Helen Doehrmann was born May 15, 1917 in Watkins, Iowa, the daughter of John and Katarina (Hetz) Nagel. She was baptized on December 13, 1925 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Newhall or and was confirmed on November 15, 1936 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg. Leona was united in marriage to Egon Otto Doehrmann on September 29, 1935 at the First Lutheran Church in Iowa City. They lived on a farm for 25 years until moving to their home in Williamsburg in the April 1966. Leona was a homemaker and also work at Amana Woolen Mill in Amana for a number of years. She enjoyed quilting. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid. Leona died Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at Rose Haven Nursing Home in Marengo after a brief illness at the age of 91 years. She is survived by three sons: Norman Doehrmann, Lloyd (Claudia) Doehrmann and Bruce (Arlys) Doehrmann all of Williamsburg; eight grandchildren: Brian Doehrmann, Jay (Marcia) Doehrmann, Anthony (Carrie) Doehrmann, Sheila (Richard Jr.) Kruse, Sara (Derrick) Grubb, Stacey Doehrmann, Mark (Sandy) Doehrmann and Ann (Steve) Faber; 12 great grandchildren; a brother: George Nagel and a sister: Dorothy Hawkes both of High Amana. Leona was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1997; a daughter: Katherine Jane; a sister: Ruth Stumpf and two brothers: Leroy Nagel and Walter Nagel. Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 am on Monday, October 20, 2008, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, in Williamsburg. Rev. Carl Cloeter will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, in Williamsburg. Visitation will be on Sunday, from 4-8 pm at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg. Memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the Lutheran Interparish School. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com under obituaries.
