Leon Morrow

Leon Morrow, 76, of rural Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Friday, August 15, 2008, at the Henry County Health Center. Visitation for Mr. Morrow will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2008, at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel in Mt. Pleasant, from 10:00 until 11:30 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jim Erwin officiating. Burial will be in the Salem South Cemetery. Memorials have been established to the Midwest Old Threshers for the steam area. The son of Wayne and Valera Plate Morrow, Wayne Leon was born January 18, 1932, in Macomb, IL. He was a 1950 graduate of Industry High School in Industry, IL. Leon lived most of his adult life in the Galesburg, IL, area moving to rural Mt. Pleasant in 1999. On August 30, 2002, he married Joan Aicher at the Midwest Old Threshers Reunion. She preceded him in death on May 28, 2007. A tool and dye maker, Leon worked for many years for Admiral in Galesburg until the time of his retirement. For twelve years he served on the Midwest Old Threshers Board of Directors. He owned and operated his own steam engine, which he had restored. Leon enjoyed riding his Harley, and as a young man he enjoyed racing motorcycles. Leon is survived by close friends, Ken and Anna Huffaker of Mt. Pleasant, IA. He is also survived by three brothers, Norman Morrow, Phillip Morrow and David Morrow, all of Macomb, IL. Mr. Morrow was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Joan.
