Leo E. Jordan was born on May 22, 1923, on a farm in the Green Valley area east of North English, IA, a son of Thomas Raymond and Mamie Long Jordan. He attended the Green Valley country school and graduated from North English High School in 1941. On June 5, 1943, he married Phyllis Irene Cram at the Pleasant Grove Grace Brethren Church near North English. Leo served in the Army Air Corps in the Phillippines and in post-war occupied Japan. He farmed in Iowa County until moving with his family to Arizona in 1960, where he lived in the desert north of Phoenix. Leo & Phyllis returned to North English in September 2004. He attended the Pleasant Grove Grace Brethren Church, and he dearly loved and trusted the Lord Jesus, whom he was ready and eager to meet face to face. Leo enjoyed cutting and polishing precious stones and raising and riding their Peruvian Pasos horses. Leo died following a sudden illness at Marengo Memorial Hospital on Monday March 29, 2005. He lived 81 years, 10 months and 6 days. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Jordan of North English; a son, Pastor Edwin Jordan of North English and a daughter Connie Jordan of both Phoenix, AZ and Shanghai, China. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Miriam, who died in infancy and Pauline Reed; and brothers, Charles, Keith and Harry. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, March 31, 2005, at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English, with Pastor Edwin Jordan officiating. Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for the Pleasant Grove Grace Brethren Church near North English.
