KINROSS- Lela Fern Stutzman was born November 9, 1926 in Harrisonville, Missouri the daughter of Samuel and Mabel (Hartzler) Hershberger. She came to Iowa when was a teenager. She graduated from Iowa Mennonite High School. On June 30, 1949 she was united in marriage to Harold Stutzman at Sycamore Grove Mennonite Church in Garden City, Missouri. They made their home in rural Kinross. She worked at the Pleasantview Home and Parkview Manor for many years. Lela was a member of the Wellman Mennonite Church where she enjoyed singing in choirs, served on the Library Committee, taught Sunday School and Bible School, and was active in WMSC. She enjoyed singing in choirs, gardening, flowers, loved the color purple and volunteered at the Crowded Closet. Lela died on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at Parkview Manor in Wellman following a lengthy illness at the age of 82 years. Lela is survived by 5 sons - Jerry Stutzman (Carol) of St. Paul, MN, James Stutzman of Tuscola, IL, Stan Stutzman (Phyllis) of Kinross, John Stutzman (Carol) of Sigourney, Donavan Stutzman of Kinross; a daughter - Mary Stutzman of Kinross; 14 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and a brother - Herman Hershberger of Hesston, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in June of 1994; a grandson Justin Stutzman; 3 sisters - Alma Mast, Ruth Hershberger, Laura Hershberger; and 3 brothers - Irvin Hershberger, Elba Hershberger, Ralph Hershberger . Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman. Chaplain Carroll Yoder will officiate. Burial will be in the Wellman Mennonite Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday at the Powell Funeral Home. A memorial fund has been established for Parkview Manor Memory Care Unit.
