LeAnn M. Miller, 87, of Salem, IA, died Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at Donnellson Health Center. Visitation will begin after 12 noon on Monday, June 12, 2017, at Olson~Powell Memorial Chapel. A Christian Vigil service will be held at 5:00 p.m. that evening, at the Memorial Chapel. The family will greet friends following the vigil service. A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, with the Rev. John Stack celebrating. Inurnment will be at a later date in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Gifts of love and friendship may be given to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church or the Alzheimer's Association. On-line condolences may be directed to www.olsonpowell.com.Born April 17, 1930, in West Point, IA, LeAnn Mary was the daughter of Frank and Teresa Jacobsmeier Blind. She was a 1948 graduate of St. Mary's High School in West Point, IA. Following high school, LeAnn worked as a secretary at Sacred Heart Hospital in Ft. Madison, IA. On February 24, 1952, she married H. Keith Miller at St. Mary's Church in West Point. He preceded her in death in 1988.A devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, LeAnn helped in every aspect of family farm by driving the tractor, tending the livestock, and keeping her sons on task. She took pride in having a well-manicured lawn. LeAnn was an active member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, enjoyed attending mass, and participated in the Altar and Rosary Society. She was known as "the mashed potato maker" for the St. Al's kitchen during Old Threshers. LeAnn is survived by three sons, Harlan (Peggy) Miller of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Howard Miller of Mt. Pleasant, IA, and Alan Miller of Salem, IA; a sister, Mary Lou (Stuart) Hulsebus of Branson, MO; four granddaughters, Jennifer Kruse, Karyn Spinner, Sara Fedler, and Becky Hagensee; and eight great-grandchildren.Along with her husband, LeAnn was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Eugene Blind, Robert Blind, LeRoy Blindt, Francis Blindt, Joseph Blind, and Harold Blind; and three sisters, Francella Kottenstette, Dorine Kenel, and Rita Irerra.
