SIGOURNEY-Larry Dean "Joe" Hollingsworth, beloved husband, dad and papa, went home to be with the Lord, Dec. 13, 2012. Joe was born at home near Martinsburg, January 3, 1940. He was the youngest son, and 11th of 13 children born to Adna and Edna Hollingsworth. He attended Sigourney High School where he played basketball, ran track and drove cool cars. He married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Barb Kilburn, in 1959. They moved to California where he worked for Northup Defense Corporation and Sesma Cleaners. In 1964, they returned to Sigourney where he and his brother ran the International Harvester dealership. He worked there for over 40 years. He was a devoted father to Melissa (Dave) Ingle, Beth (Rick) Danowsky and Joel (Kristie) Hollingsworth. He never missed a concert, play or athletic event. He is hero and Papa to Emily, Abbey and Ricky and loved giving rides on the golf cart, feeding the horses, going to Walkers for ice cream, giving them a little spending money and whatever else he could do to spoil them. Joe took pride in working at the church, and loved collecting cars, fishing, boating, camping, gardening, watching the Hawkeyes and most of all spending time with family and friends around the fire. He is survived by wife, children, grandchildren and other cherished family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Roy, Virginia, Lucille, Rex, Maxine Anne, Melvin, Donna, Rosanna Lea, Marvin, Bev, Linda, and Lorraine. Celebration of Life service will be 10:30 am, Tuesday, Dec. 18, at the United Methodist Church in Sigourney, with Rev. Rich Pippert officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 pm, Monday, Dec. 17, at Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney. A general memorial fund has been established.
