He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Gloria in 2012, and a brother Ronald “Ronnie” Schumacher.

Lawerence Frederick Schumacher was born May 8, 1939, on the family farm south of Marengo, the son of Leo and Margaret “Mae” Hartin Schumacher. He graduated from Marengo High School with the class of 1957. Shoey was united in marriage to Gloria Hayes on August 26, 1961, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Marengo. Shoey worked as a supervisor in the shipping and receiving department for Amana Refrigeration for over 40 years. Family vacations consisted of annual Adventureland and Iowa State Fair trips. Following retirement, Shoey continued helping his son Vance with apartment maintenance, and his brother Jim building homes. He took pride in taking care of his parents’ farm, mowing the yard and keeping it looking nice. Shoey enjoyed playing cards, golfing, and going to casinos with his wife. He especially enjoyed all the time spent with his entire family in the Lake of the Ozarks each year, a 45 plus year tradition that will carry on.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Lakeview Village, Colonial Manor of Amana, and Essence of Life Hospice for their compassionate care given to Shoey.
