Laurene E. (Tillie) Gorsch, age 83, died at her home in Millersburg on Friday, August 30, 2013. Funeral Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Millersburg at 10:00 am on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 with Pastor Paul Nus officiating. Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm on September 3, 2013, at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English. Burial will be in the Community Cemetery, rural Deep River. (Tillie) Gorsch was born on June 22, 1930, in Iowa City, Iowa, a daughter of Casimar and Mathilda Koehn Dhondt. She grew up in Williamsburg and attended school there. Laurene was united in marriage to Lornie E. Gorsch on March 15, 1948 in Williamsburg, Iowa. They made their home in Millersburg until 1988, when they moved to Williamsburg, later moving to Marengo and then back to Millersburg. Laurene worked in food service in the Millersburg and Williamsburg schools and for many years at Hometown Café and Dew Drop Inn. She enjoyed baking, gardening, eating ice cream, pudding and doing word search books. Lornie preceded her in death in December 2003. She is survived by sons Donald (Phyllis) Gorsch of Millersburg and Bill (Mary Lou) McFadden of Cedar Rapids; a daughter Barbara Adix of Belle Plaine; six grandchildren: Heather Iburg, Joe Gorsch, Jimmy Gorsch, Christina McFadden, Jamie Meade, and Shannon Almendinger; four great grandchildren: Bentleigh, Tavian Jaxon Gorsch and Colby McFadden; a sister-in-law Nedra Dhondt of Parnell and her best buddy "Ty". Laurene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter Catherine Gorsch, grandson Brian Gorsch, and brother Marvin Dhondt.
