The family of Larry Davis will be celebrating his life on Saturday, April 13, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Marengo Golf Club. Please join us to share a favorite story, toast, laugh or hug as we honor this remarkable man on what would have been his 87 th birthday.
Larry Thomas Davis passed away in his sleep the morning of February 15, 2024, at Highland Ridge Care Center, Williamsburg. Larry and Sharon will be inurned together at the Ohio Cemetery, Ladora, Iowa. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is assisting the family with arrangements.
Larry Davis was born April 13, 1937 at his parent’s house, Thomas and Mable Davis. He graduated from Ladora High School and attended the Iowa State Farm program. He joined the Army but was never deployed. Larry married the love of his life, Sharon Kinzenbaw June 1, 1957, in Ladora. The couple made their home on the farm where Larry was born near Ladora. Larry was a farmer with his wife, a father and Grandpa Flash. Larry and Sharon owned the Double D in Williamsburg from 1969-1975. With the help of Dave and Karron DeBrower, they managed it until it became the Sundown. He enjoyed celebration gatherings, golfing, playing cards, the Ladora Saddle Club and bull riding in his younger years. Family was the most important thing to Larry and his many friendships were considered family as well. This includes the wonderful staff at Highland Ridge that helped him the last seven and a half years. Because of his endless generosity, love, smile, orneriness, wit and smile, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Larry is survived by two children, Sharry (Rand) Garringer, of Marengo, Frank (Carrie) Davis, of Marengo, and two sons-in-law, Doug Oakley and Alan Sloan of Cypress, TX; brother-in-law, Fritz E. (Cathy) Kinzenbaw, of Ladora and sister-in-law, Gen Davis, of Williamsburg; five grandchildren, Tavis (Jennifer) Garringer, Tereni (Josh) Kepler, Lindsay Sloan (Mark McMonigle), Taylor (David) Randall and Brooke Davis (Ben Smith); 12 great-grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his parents, wife Sharon, daughter Sharly Sloan, sister Greta with husband Paul Rader, brother Bob, sister-in-law Connie with husband Trey Shay.
