Larry Stark

Larry M. Stark, 67 of Stockport, IA, died Thursday, September 11, 2008, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 15, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel in Mt. Pleasant with Lothar Lengtat officiating. Burial will be in the Spencer Cemetery near Stockport. There will be no visitation. Memorials have been established and may be directed to the family in his memory. Larry Michael Stark was born December 4, 1940, in Henry County, IA. He was the son of Harley and Eileen Nelson Stark. He grew up in Round Prairie Township in Jefferson County. He graduated from Stockport High School. On December 24, 1962, Larry married Laura Karen Giberson in Keosauqua. She survives. Larry farmed and worked as a maintenance supervisor at Vista Bakery in Burlington for 44 years. He was an avid NASCAR fan. He enjoyed deer and turkey hunting. Larry also liked attending Midwest Old Threshers and collected old tractors and cars and had a special interest in antique engines. He especially loved spending time with his family. Along with his wife, Karen, Larry is survived by three sons, Michael (Kimberly) Stark and Monty (Tammy) Stark all of Mt. Pleasant, IA, and Nathan (Janette) Stark of Hillsboro, IA; three daughters Sheila (Jeff) Wilkerson of Salem, IA, Rhonda Stark and fiancee Michael White of Stockport, IA, and Tasha Stark and fiancee Jason Rohde of Lockridge, IA. Also surviving are two brothers Steven (Darlene) Stark of Harrisonville, MO, and Richard Tyner of Salina, KS; three sisters Cheryl (John) Giberson of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Kandi (Geno) Stark-Reeder of Lockridge, IA, and Kim Griep of Salina, KS; and one sister-in-law Phyllis Stark of Salt Lake City, Utah. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Larry was preceded in death by his mother, father, his biological father, Dalton Tyner and a brother Dennis Stark.
