Larry Joe Maddex

Larry J. Maddex, age 76, of Marengo, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2023, at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo. Memorial service: 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 6, 2023, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, with Rev. Joseph Blay officiating. Inurnment will take place at Westview Cemetery, La Porte City, Iowa, at a later date. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m., until service time at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, February 6, 2023, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A memorial fund has been established. Larry and his family are in the care of Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, Iowa.

Larry is survived by his wife, Zoe of Marengo; a son Tony (Connie) Maddex of Marengo; and a brother Don (Pat) Maddex of Waterloo.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Larry Joe Maddex was born November 3, 1946, to Weldon and Lucy Laverne Saunders Maddex. He attended Waterloo West High School and graduated with the class of 1965. Larry was united in marriage to Zoe Bagenstos on July 29, 1967, in La Porte City, Iowa. He worked as a tire repairman for the Iowa County Road Department for 30 years. In his younger years, Larry enjoyed going hunting and fishing. Larry loved classic country music, Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis were his favorites. He enjoyed watching Law and Order SVU, John Wayne and any old western movie on television.
