SIGOURNEY-Larry J. White, age 77, of Sigourney, died Sunday, September 15, 2013, at his granddaughter's home in rural Harper. Larry was born August 7, 1936, in rural Farson, to Donald and Mildred (Holzhauser) White and graduated from Farson High School. He served in the United States Marine Corps for 10 years. On October 4, 1963, he married Janice Bollinger in Garden Grove, California. The couple lived in California until moving to Sigourney in 1976. Larry worked for Iowa Culvert Builders for 25 years and owned the White House Bar and Grill from 1992 until 2012. He was a member of the Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Larry enjoyed being his usual, ornery self. Survivors include his granddaughter: Staci White and Jon Baker of rural Harper; grandson: Jeff White and wife Trisha of Sigourney; two great grandchildren: Jaidyn Schlichte and Nash Baker and sister: Janet Garner of Mesa, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Jan in 2008 and son: Greg in 2001. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2013, at Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney. Private family services will be held at a later date, with burial at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney. A general memorial fund has been established.
