Larry D. Feddersen, 74, formerly of Brighton, IA, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2013, at the McCreedy Home in Washington, IA. The family will host a memorial service on Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at 6:30 p.m. at the Hope Lutheran Church in Germanville, IA, with Rev. Jordan Cooper officiating. Memorials have been established to the Brighton Fire Department, the Wayland Fire Department, and the Hope Lutheran Church. Born November 20, 1939 in rural Brighton, Jefferson County, IA, Larry Dean was the son of Jens and Opal (Lynn) Feddersen. He graduated from Brighton High School. He served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged at a rank of E-4. For 34 years, Larry worked as an inspector for Crane Company in Washington, IA. He retired is 2003. His favorite work was as an aid at the University of Iowa Children's Hospital. He was instrumental in spearheading a camp at Lake Darling for the children at the hospital. Favorite hobbies included fishing, mushroom hunting, gardening and going to flea markets. He enjoyed working his teams of horses and mules, and would annually go to the Clark County Mule Festival in Missouri. An avid hunter, he spent many hours hunting with his bird dogs. He worked on small engines and was a skilled woodworker. Larry was a connoisseur of cheap whiskey. He belonged to the Hope Lutheran Church in Germanville. Survivors include a son, Chris Feddersen of Wayland, IA; a daughter, Kari Feddersen of Wayland, IA; a step-son, Kurtis (Tammy) Sinn of Wayland, IA; adopted daughters, Debbie Williams and Lisa Fowler both of Washington, IA; numerous grandchildren; and the John and Martha Lynn Family who were his caregivers for the last several years. Preceding Larry in death are his parents; grandparents; a brother, Jens "Sonny" Feddersen; and aunts and uncles.
