North English-L. Opal Wymore, McNally Mason was born January 19, 1903 in Keokuk County, Iowa the daughter of Austin and Ida Marie Rebecca (Williams) Wymore. She grew up in the Blakesburg, Ottumwa and North English areas. Opal graduated from North English High School in 1921. Opal was united in marriage to James McNally on December 19, 1942 he later died on December 13, 1952. She later married Dow Mason on August 26, 1967. Opal worked many years as a bankteller for the Farmers Savings Bank in North English. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church were she served as a treasurer for the Altar and Rosary Society for many years. Opal enjoyed playing the piano, playing cards with friends and family and socializing at the North English Community Center. Opal became a resident at the English Valley Care Center in North English on August 1, 1995. Opal died Wednesday December 31, 2008 at the English Valley Care Center after a brief illness at the age of 105 years. She is survived by her daughter: Pat (Gene) Denison of South English; a son: James McNally of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; three grandchildren: Deanne (Dan) Cornelison of Van Meter, Doreen Ferris and Ayla McNally both of Chapel Hill, NC and six great grandchildren: Chase and Cole Ferris, Max, Molly and Chelsea Cornelison and Jessica Drake and three great great grandsons: Tristan, Mason and Kael Drake and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, four brothers: Carl, Kenneth, Floyd and Herschel Wymore and two sisters: Louie McMickle Spears and Ida Marie Casady and a grandson-in-law: Scott Ferris. Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00 am Saturday, January 3, 2009 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in North English. Fr. Pat Lumsden will officiate. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00am to 10:30 am at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English. Burial will be in the Mt Calvary Cemetery in Marengo.
