SIGOURNEY-Kristina Linne Hammes, age 37, of Coralville, formerly of Sigourney, passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2009, at her home. Kristina was born November 5, 1971, in Sigourney, to David Lawrence and Carolin Sherry (Carter) Hammes. She graduated from Sigourney High School in 1990, received an accounting degree from A.I.B and studied Massage Therapy at La James College in Iowa City. Kristina married Don Tremmel and they were later divorced. She was currently working as an agent for AFLAC. Kristina enjoyed her children, granddaughter, taking motorcycle rides and guardian angels. Survivors include her mom and dad: Ron and Sherry Kerr of Sigourney; three children: Courtney Torres and husband Andrew of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Colton Hammes of Coralville and Chase Tremmel of Sigourney; granddaughter: Kierra Noel Torres of Colorado Springs, Colorado; step-sister: Tami Baker and husband Donald of Maryville, Tennessee; grandmothers: Pat Carter and Nadine Kerr, both of Sigourney; many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father in 1973; grandparents: Lawrence "Bud" and Julia Hammes and grandfathers: Bill Carter and Emery Kerr. Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 4, 2009, at Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney, with Rev. John Hembry officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Sigourney. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2009, at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for the family. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Sigourney is caring for Kristina and her family.
