Kerry L. Traver, age 76, of Marengo, passed away Monday, December 27, 2021 at Mercy Medical Center, in Cedar Rapids. A memorial service with military honors will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 3, 2022 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, with Rev. Larry Buswell officiating. Family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, January 2, 2022 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. Memorials may be contributed to the family in Kerry’s name.
Kerry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carol; three children Cory Traver, of Cedar Rapids, Stacy (Chris) Jordan, of Lubbock, TX, and Kimberly Kopet (Tony D’lapico, of Newton; nine grandchildren, Courtney (Oscar) (Chupes), Alex (Rachael), Taylor, Zach, Chase, Colton, Carolyn, TJ and Brady; eight great-grandchildren, Mason, Kashton, Mateo, Mila, Jayce, Amira, Aaron, and Ashlynn; a sister Judy Kesl, of Belle Plaine; three brothers, Dean (Pat) Traver, of Mt. Vernon, Lynn (Barb) Traver, of Clinton, and Bruce Traver, of Corpus Christi, TX; and several nieces, nephews and special cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Virginia and a sister, Lois Wessels.
Kerry LeRoy Traver was born August 15, 1945, in Iowa City, the son of Carl and Virginia (Craft) Traver. He attended school in Clinton. Kerry enlisted into the U.S. Army in 1963. He was united in marriage to Carol Engel on September 27, 1968, in Rock Island, IL. The couple made their home in Iowa, Nebraska and Washington. Kerry and Carol were blessed with three children, Cory, Stacy and Kimberly. He enjoyed fishing, NASCAR and drag racing. But most of all, Kerry loved his family and spending time with his grand and great-grandchildren.
