Kenneth J. Peiffer, age 82 years, died following an extended illness on Monday, June 20, 2005, at Maplewood Manor in Keota. Celebration Of Life Service will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, June 23, 2005 at Holy Trinity Parish-St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota, with the Rev. Marty Goetz officiating. Burial will be in St. Elizabeth Catholic Cemetery in Harper, IA. Friends may call from 4 pm to 8 pm Wednesday, June 22, 2005, at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota. Peiffer was born on July 14, 1922, near Harper, IA, the son of Stephen and Gertrude Flander Peiffer. He grew up in the Webster, IA community and graduated from Webster High School. Kenneth enlisted in the Navy during World War II. He was united in marriage to Theresa Sieren on January 31, 1948, at Sts. Peter and Paul Church. They made their home and farmed in the Keota community. In 1982 Kenneth and Theresa moved into Keota. Kenneth became a resident of Maplewood Manor in Keota in January 2003. He is survived by his wife Theresa Peiffer of Keota, IA; sons Gary Peiffer of Marion, IA and Ted Peiffer of Rapid City, SD; daughters Mary Carter of Jasper, AL and Linda Moyes of Colorado Springs, CO; 11 grandchildren: Carrie Neighbor, Lisa Peiffer, Megan Peiffer, Mike Carter, Stephanie Turner, Jonathan Moyes, Ryan Moyes, Kelsey Moyes, Kenny Potvin, Zack Potvin & Lauren Peiffer; 2 great grandchildren: Taryn Neighbor and Chase Turner; and brothers Donald Peiffer of Lubbock, TX and Norman Peiffer of Murray, KY. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents.
