KEOTA-Kenneth J. Conrad, age 85, of Keota, died Saturday, May 5, 2007, at Maplewood Manor in Keota, following a brief illness. Kenneth was born March 12, 1922, in Houghton, Iowa, to Edward L. and Theresa (Woltering) Conrad and graduated from Keota High School in 1939. On March 6, 1961 he married Elizabeth (Hammes) Meyer. They were later divorced. Kenneth was a member of Holy Trinity Parish. Survivors include a son: Edward M. Conrad and wife Denise of Sigourney; a daughter: Rita T. Sheetz and husband Jerry of Keota; five grandchildren: Ed and Mac Conrad and Riley, Taylor and Madison Sheetz; four brothers: Gale J. Conrad of Sigourney, Donald Conrad of Keota, Dennis Conrad of Keota and Ronald Conrad of Coto De Caza, California; one sister: Darlene Flynn of Keota; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister: Virginia Groff. A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at Holy Trinity Parish-St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota with Rev. Marty Goetz officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Keota. A memorial fund has been established for Hospice of Keokuk County. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is handling the arrangements.
