SIGOURNEY-Kenneth Lyle Husband, age 70, died Sunday, March 19, 2006, at the Manor House Care Center in Sigourney, following a lengthy illness. Kenny was born July 11, 1935, in Keokuk County, Iowa, east of What Cheer, to John and Veva (Griggs) Husband. He attended country school and Keswick High School. On January 10, 1959, he married Donna Jean Mason at the Delta United Methodist Church. The couple lived and farmed in the What Cheer, Delta and Sigourney communities until retiring in 1999. Kenny also showed Hackney ponies in his younger years. Kenny was a member of the Delta United Methodist Church and enjoyed collecting model draft horse teams and wagons, his pride and joy, fishing and dancing. Survivors include his wife: Donna Jean Husband of Sigourney; three sisters: Veva Hermanstorfer of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Dorothy Gibson of Burlington and Margaret Herr of Oskaloosa; one brother: Mervin Husband and wife Alice of Bedford; two sisters-in-law: Betty Husband of Millersburg and Peggy Husband of Oskaloosa; several nieces and nephews; mother-in-law: Nadine Mason of Sigourney and special friend: Ben Herman of West Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother: Marie Dawson Husband; two brothers: Dale Husband and Clarence Husband; three brothers-in-law: Arlo Gibson, Bob Herr and Vernon Hermanstorfer and two nephews: Melvin Hermanstorfer and Ronnie Hermanstorfer. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 24, 2006, at the Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel in Sigourney with Revs. Don Ridenour and Vince Homan officiating. Burial will be at Sixteen Cemetery near Thornburg. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 23, 2006, at the Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel in Sigourney. A memorial fund has been established for Hospice of Keokuk County, the American Diabetes Association or Delta United Methodist Church. Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service in Sigourney is handling the arrangements.
