Kenneth Engel

Williamsburg- Kenneth Oren Engel was born August 7, 1947 in Williamsburg, Iowa the son of John and Adella (Peterson) Engel. He graduated from Williamsburg High School, Grinnell College and University of Iowa College of Pharmacy. Ken served in the United States Air Force from December 1969 to July 1972. Ken was united in marriage to Schael Ann Mathews on August 10, 1968 at the Christ Church in Grosse Point, Michigan. Ken owned and operated Peterson Drug in Williamsburg and the Noel Pharmacy in North English. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, American Legion, Eagle Scouts, Masonic Lodge, Williamsburg School Board, and IPA. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, reading, singing, traveling, nature, and watching the Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs. Ken Passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at English Valley Care Center at the age of 72 years.

Ken is survived by his wife Schael of Williamsburg; two children: Joshua (Colleen) Engel of Portland, OR. and Erica Engel of Williamsburg; two grandchildren: Ailbhe and Cennydd; four siblings: Nancy Engel of Edina, MN; Dr. Michael (Chris) Engel of Glen Allen, VA; David (Jane) Engel of Marshalltown and Jan (Scott) Evans of Ft. Collins, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration Of Life Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, September 20. 2019 at the First Presbyterian Church in Williamsburg. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 9:00 until service time at the First Presbyterian Church. A memorial fund has been established for the Williamsburg Library, American Legion and the First Presbyterian Church. Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg is caring for Ken and his family.
