Kenneth Dale Morrison, age 87, passed away at his home in Bennington, NE, on Father's Day, Sunday, June 16, 2013. Funeral Services will be in North English. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to service time at 10:30 AM on Thursday held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, June 20, 2013, at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service . Rev. Michelle Williamson will officiate. Burial with military rites will be in the Sorden Cemetery, near Webster. A memorial fund has been established for the American Cancer Society. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com under obituaries. Kenneth Dale Morrison was born January 29, 1926 in South English, Iowa. The son of Ellis and Mabel Hart Morrison, he grew up in the Keswick community and graduated from Keswick High School in 1943. Ken served in the Army Air Corps in World War II, completing 35 missions in the European Theater. After discharge, he attended the University of Iowa, graduating in 1949. Ken entered into marriage with Norma Higgins on December 20, 1947 at the United Methodist Church in Keswick, Iowa. His career started in 1949 with Hygrade Food Products Corporation in Olin, Iowa. From there he was transferred to Chicago and ultimately to Detroit where he retired after 40 years with the company. Hygrade Food was acquired by Sara Lee Corporation during his final years with the company. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Temple, Texas and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He also served for many years as a member of the American Legion. Ken is survived by his wife, Norma Morrison of Omaha, Nebraska; children, Gary Morrison, Royal Oak, MI, Nancy Houck and son-in-law, Brad Houck of Omaha, NE. Additionally, he is survived by four grandchildren; Daniel and Lindsay Morrison and Justin and Kristin Houck and a great granddaughter Brooklynn Morrison, as well as a brother, Max Morrison of Indianola, Iowa and a sister, Beverly Montross of Millersburg, Iowa.
