KEOTA- Kenneth "Ken" Baughman, age 94, of Keota, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at the Washington County Hospital following a brief illness. Ken was born January 22, 1911, southwest of Kinross, Iowa, to Curvin and Margaret (Seitsinger) Baughman. He graduated from Keota High School in 1927 and later attended Penn School of Commerce in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Early in his life he worked at the Harris Trust and Savings Bank in Chicago. He later came back to Iowa and worked on the family farm in the North English, South English and Keota areas. He entered the Washington Care Center in September of 1998. Survivors include two sisters: Leita Manthei of Cedar Rapids and Margaret Harriman of Washington; three brothers: Daryl and wife Irene of Keota, Cleo of Washington and Robert of Augusta, Georgia; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister: Marjorie Coble; brother: Cloyce; nephew: Doug Roberts; sister-in-law: Katie Baughman and three brothers-in-law: Jerry Manthei, Dale Harriman and Laymon Coble. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2005, at the Powell Funeral Home in Keota with Pastor Don Ridenour officiating. Burial will be at the Brethren Cemetery near South English. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m.until 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2005, at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for the Keota Q.R.S. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is handling the arrangements.
