Keith E. Taylor

Keith E. Taylor, age 85, of Williamsburg, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Compass Memorial Hospital. Per Keith’s wishes his body was donated to the University of Iowa deeded body program for research. A CELEBRATION OF LIFE OPEN HOUSE will be Saturday, July 17, 1-4 p.m. with a brief service by Pastor Anni beginning at 1:00 p.m.   It will be held at the Millersburg Community Center (next door to the fire station).  Myra and family invite you to come share memories of Keith, who died of Covid. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Millersburg Cemetery, Millersburg, Iowa. Kloster Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Keith is survived by his loving wife Myra of 58 1/2 years, now of Millersburg; his daughters, Renee Moravec of Millersburg, and Ronda (Dennis) Scheidt of Coralville; and a granddaughter, Rachel Scheidt of Coralville. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Bill and Melvin Taylor; a son in law, Bruce Moravec; and parents in law, William and Lillian Stock.

Keith Elroy Taylor was born February 16, 1935 in rural Webster, Iowa, the son of Marvin and Wilma Fahrney Taylor. He graduated from Millersburg High School with the class of 1952. Keith enlisted into the U.S. Army serving from 1956 to 1958. He was stationed in New York serving as a surveillance radar operator. Keith was united in marriage to Myra Stock on June 16, 1962 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Marengo. The couple were married by Myra’s father, Pastor William Stock. Keith owned and operated Taylor Insurance Agency in Millersburg, then became a field representative for Square Deal, a crop hail insurance company. He served as Millersburg City Clerk, was the Booster Club President, served on the Iowa Valley School Board, Lions Club and many church boards. Keith was a musician, at the age of 12 he began playing in swing and dance bands in Eastern Iowa supper clubs and continued for 30 plus years. He was also a member of the Marengo Civil War Band. He played spoons along with the T.A.Y.L.O.R. Trio, a group consisting of his wife, Myra, his two daughters and their ministry. Keith enjoyed doing word searches, daily reading of his Bible, and was an avid Hawkeye fan. He was a devoted husband, loving dad, and grandpa. He will be greatly missed by many.

The family would like to thank Compass Memorial Hospital and Essence of Life Hospice for their wonderful care, and family and friends for their love and support. Keith will have a perfect Christmas in his perfect Heavenly home.
