Kay Raymer

Kathryn J. "Kay" Raymer, 88, of Mt. Pleasant, IA., passed away on February 7, 2008, at her home. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 10, 2008, from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel where the family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. that afternoon. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 11, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church of Mt. Pleasant, with Pastor Mike Scudder officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Memorials have been established to the Faith Lutheran Church. Born December 30, 1919, in Boone, IA, Kay was the daughter of Charles and Elsie Christopher Anderson. She graduated from Boone High School, and also graduated from Boone Community College. On May 31, 1957, she married Dean Raymer in Boone. He preceded her in death on July 7, 1994. Kay worked at the Iowa Electric Light and Power Company in Boone, and for Bankers Life Company in Des Moines, IA She was later employed as a machine operator for 12 years at Metromail in Mt. Pleasant., retiring in 1980. Kay was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church of Mt. Pleasant and was a church organist for many years. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Mt. Pleasant Womens Club. Survivors include one son, Alan (Mary) Raymer of Mt. Pleasant, IA., and three grandchildren, Matt Raymer and Jill Raymer of Cedar Falls, IA, and Christopher Raymer of Mt. Pleasant, IA. Kay's extended family includes, Mrs. Dale (Arletta) Raymer, Mrs. Kenny (Adeline) Anderson, Penny Miller, Patsy Miller, Vic and Marilyn Calhoun, Dale and Becky Calhoun and Dave Calhoun and their families. Besides her husband, Kay was preceded in death by her parents; one brother Kenny Anderson, and one brother-in law, Dale Raymer.
