Katy M. Ehrman

Katy Marie Ehrman, age 95, of Amana, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2018, at Colonial Manor. Funeral Services: 10:00 A.M., Thursday, November 29, 2018, at the Middle Amana Church, Middle Amana, with Elder Alan Trumpold officiating. Burial will be in the South Amana Cemetery, South Amana, Iowa. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 P.M., Wednesday, November 28, 2018, at the Middle Amana Church, Middle Amana. Memorials can be given in Katy’s name to the Amana Church or Essence of Life Hospice. Kloster Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Katy is survived by her husband Harry Ehrman; a daughter Pamela (William) Daws, of West Burlington; a daughter-in-law Rachel Ehrman of South Amana; five grandchildren Dustin (Tracy) Ehrman, Molly (Rob) Kephart, Erin (Joel) Schaefer, Rebecca (Mark Allen) Boscaljon and Emily (Ryan) Wright; nine great-grandchildren Willa and Edgar Kephart, Aliese, Jack and Heidi Schaefer and Madeleine Boscaljon, Ashli, Brandon (Erika), and Colton Spicer; four great- great- grandchildren Lillie, Kellan, Kaylee and David Spicer; a sister Ellen May Marz and a half brother Richard Leichsenring. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Russell Ehrman and a brother Ernest in infancy.

Katy was born September 9, 1923, in South Amana, the daughter of Ernest and Louisa (Berger) Leichsenring. She graduated from Amana High School in 1941 and attended the Cedar Rapids Business College. She was united in marriage to Harry E. Ehrman on June 16, 1946 in Amana, Iowa. Katy was employed by Zuber’s restaurant and the United States Postal Service, as Postmaster in South Amana, Iowa. She was a member of the National Association of Postmasters, the Amana Church, Amana Heritage Society and the Amana Arts Guild. Katy enjoyed reading, traveling, sewing, cooking and gardening.
