Holbrook- Kathy Donnette Kanagy of Holbrook was born June 12, 1963, in Independence, Iowa, the daughter of George and Rosemary (Zitz) Fulton. She and her family spent some time in Ohio before settling down in Iowa where she attended West High School. She was united in marriage to James Kanagy June 12, 1982, at West Union Mennonite Church. To this union they were blessed with two wonderful daughters. She worked as a photographer for Lifetouch for 31 years before taking a position at Elite Sports in Williamsburg. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, gardening, canning, road trips, and supporting her daughters and grandchildren in all their activities. Kathy passed away Saturday July 9, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family at the age of 59. 

 

She is survived by her husband James; two daughters Becky (Andy) Lown of Holbrook and Belle (Trent) Kanagy of Winterset; three grandchildren Levi, Kathryn, and Ruby Lown; sister Darlene Lytle of North Liberty; two brothers George (Betty) Wright of Cedar Rapids and Dwayne Fulton of Vinton.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Debra Martin, and infant twin sisters.

 

A Celebration of Life graveside service will be 10:30 Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at St. Michaels Cemetery in Holbrook. A visitation will be held from 4-7 pm Tuesday July 12, 2022, at Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. A general memorial fund has been established.
