Kathryn Willert, 52, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Monday, January 30, 2006, at her home following a lengthy illness. Visitation will begin after 12:00 noon on Thursday at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel, 709 Mapleleaf Drive, in Mt. Pleasant, IA, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening. A Worship Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. that evening as well at the Memorial Chapel. On Friday, the family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m., in the auditorium at Camp Hantesa, 1450 Oriole Road, Boone, IA, followed by the funeral at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Squire Boone Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the Great River Hospice in her memory. Kathryn was born on April 28, 1953, in Moorehead, MN, the daughter of David and Elsie (Lacher) Kapaun Sr. On January 27, 1973, she married Gregory Alan Willert in Fargo, ND. Mrs. Willert was a homemaker, devoted wife and loving mother. She was talented in many areas of her life. She and Greg, along with their children, lived in Dubuque, IA for six years, Woodward, IA, for five years, and Luther, IA, for five years. The couple has lived in Mt. Pleasant for the past 16 years. Along with her husband, Greg, Mrs. Willert is survived by one daughter, Jenni and her husband Jason Wall of Lincoln, NE; her father David Kapaun Sr. and his wife Linda of Lake Park, MN; four brothers, David (Kathy) Kapaun Jr. of Lacy, WA, Steven (Wanda) Kapaun of Moorehead, MN, Glenn (Reyne) Kapaun of Summerset,WI, Perry Kapaun of Little Canada, MN; and three sisters, Nancy (Peter) Platzer of Kingsport, TN, Becky Curry of Moorehead, MN, and Mary (Gary) Parsons of Glidden, WI. Mrs. Willert was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Willert; her mother, Elsie Kapaun; one sister, Cleo Kapaun; and her grandparents.
