Kathleen DeMent

Kathleen Ann DeMent, 57, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Wednesday, February 01, 2012 at her home. There will be no formal services. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 4th at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon. Cremation will be accorded following the visitation. A memorial has been established and may be directed to the family. Born January 22, 1955, in Milwaukee, WI, Kathleen Ann was the daughter of Alois Louis and Dorothy Ione Delores (Littmann) Geiger. She spent her formative years in Milwaukee and graduated from high school there. Kathleen married Thomas Leroy Farr in Colorado, and moved to Mt. Pleasant in 1982. The couple later divorced. For the past eight years, her significant other has been Bruce Ross. Kathleen loved being a homemaker and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a magnificent mother and grandmother. Kathleen was a terrific cook and enjoyed watching the Cooking Channel to venture into new culinary recipes. The animal planet was also one of her favorite programs. She was not a member of a church, however, Kathleen had a devout love of God and the Christian faith. Survivors include three daughters, Lauren (Daniel) Farr-Piper of Winfield, IA, Holly Ann Farr of Mt. Pleasant, IA and Sarah (Shawn) Schillerstrom of Fairfield, IA; one son, David Farr of Fort Madison, IA; and three grandchildren, Joseph Schillerstrom, Rhiannon Piper and Noah Piper. Also surviving are two brothers, Al (Ruth) Geiger of Wisconsin and Michael Geiger of Las Vegas, NV; one sister, Jenny Geiger of Las Vegas; and her significant other, Bruce Ross of Mt. Pleasant, IA. Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Jeffrey Geiger, and one sister, Karen Geiger.
