Katherine Louise Rogness, was born September 6, 1916 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the daughter of Louis and Signe (Lundquist) Ostrom. She graduated from Washington High School and from Business College. On October 1, 1939 she was united in marriage to Norril A. Rogness in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They made their home in Ames from 1960-1967, and then moved to Cedar Rapids, where Katherine resided until moving to Washington in 2008. Katherine was a homemaker and she enjoyed playing Bridge. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. Katherine died on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at the Washington County Hospital in Washington at the age of 93 years. She is survived by a son Chuck (Jody) Rogness of Kalona; a daughter Mary (Phil) Viernes of Roselle, IL; 5 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and a sister Dinney Kruck of Scottsdale, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son James Rogness, a step sister Esther Kiner, and a step brother Paul Ostrom. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 26, 2010, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. Pastor Phil Jorgenson will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Hills of Rest Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The family will greet friends following the service. A memorial fund has been established for Camp Courageous. Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona is in charge of the arrangements.
