Karen Louise

IOWA CITY - Karen Louise was born November 19, 1942 in Washington, Iowa the daughter of Everette and Marguerite (Kleinschmidt) Plecker. She graduated from Mid-Prairie High School. Karen worked for the United States Government and the Veterans Affairs Hospital for 30 years. She enjoyed reading and working on crossword puzzles. Karen died on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City at the age of 73 years.
Karen is survived by 4 daughters - Pamela Willis of Dalton, Georgia; Philina Abbot of San Ramon, California; Becky McDermott of Carthage, Illinois; Ferne Watt of Shingletown, California; a son Ed Burkholder of Portland, Oregon; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 2 sisters - Joyce Millice of Wellman; Phyllis Martin of Wellman; and a brother Larry Plecker of Kalona. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son Daniel.


A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Tuesday at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona.
