Karen Dee Allen was born September 14, 1950 near Wellman, Iowa the daughter of Harvey Lee and Ruth (Gram) Allen. She graduated from Mid-Prairie High School in 1969 and Kirkwood Community College. Karen has lived in the Wellman and Kalona communities all of her life where she worked as a Registered Nurse at the University of Iowa Hospital and Pleasantview Home. Karen died unexpectedly on Sunday, August 6, 2006 at the University of Iowa Hospital at the age of 55 years. Karen is survived by a son - Jamie Henderson and wife Laura of Johnston; a daughter - Janey Jill Piersall and husband Matt of Cedar Rapids; 4 grandchildren - Dre, Kiah, Adonis, Cameron; 6 sisters - Jenny Lee Miller of West Chester; Shirley Elaine Kleinberg of Washington; Sally Allen of West Des Moines; Bonny Ruth Crawley and husband Michael of Collierville, TN.; Joy Holland and husband Steve of Amarillo, TX.; Kathy June Eaton of Kalona;a brother John L. Allen and wife Lisa of Parnell; numerous nieces and nephews; and very close friends Diane, Jody and Mary. She was preceded in death by her parents.
