Justin "Smitty" Smith, 31, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Saturday, January 4, 2014, from injuries sustained in a snowmobile accident. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church, 309 N Main, where the family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. that evening. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 10th at the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Brad Gillis and Reverend Deborah Stowers officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Justin Smith Family. Born September 1, 1982, in Mt. Pleasant, IA, Justin Ryan was the son of Rick C. and Janet Michelle (Taglauer) Smith. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant Community High School in 2001. He was engaged to his fiance, Tiffany Manning. Upon graduation, Justin worked at Batey Ltd., where he was affectionately known as Bo Bo. A gifted mechanic, Justin started his own business called Smitty's Power Sports. An avid outdoorsman, Justin enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and four wheelers. During the winter months he enjoyed snowmobiling. He was a member of the Skunk River Bandits. He fondly referred to his girls as his little bears. Survivors include his fiance, Tiffany Manning of Mt. Pleasant; three daughters, Justis, Jaydin and Jersie Smith all of Mt. Pleasant; his parents, Rick Smith and Janet Smith of Mt. Pleasant; a sister, Allison (Dagan Whaley) Smith of Mt. Pleasant; a brother, Caleb Smith of Mt. Pleasant; his grandparents, Richard and Karen Taglauer of Wayland, IA and James and Rosemary Smith of Mt. Pleasant; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceding Justin in death is an uncle, Tim Taglauer.
