June E. Schwertfeger, age 84, of Marengo, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2020 at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo. Graveside Memorial Service: 9:30 am, Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Bishop Cemetery, Marengo, with Pastor Eddie Thomas officiating. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is assisting the family with arrangements.
June is survived by her son, Charles “Chuck” Schwertfeger of Marengo; a sister Violet (Marvin) Anderson of Marengo; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and three sisters.
June Edith Starkweather was born August 10, 1935 in rural West Amana, the daughter of Alford and Nora Stanton Starkweather. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Marengo. June enjoyed crocheting and cross-stitching for many years.
