Joyce Hodges, 70 of rural Hillsboro, died Sunday, September 30, 2012, at her home, following a lengthy illness. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon, prior to the service, on Friday, October 5th at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel where the family will receive friends. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Aaron Helterbran officiating. Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Pleasant Hill Cemetery for the purchase of trees. The daughter of Walter and Alberta (Wolfe) Forbes, Joyce Ann was born June 16, 1942 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. She attended Hillsboro grade school, and graduated from Harmony High School in 1960. On December 23, 1962 she married Maurice Hodges at the Hillsboro Baptist Church. For over 18 years Joyce worked as a housekeeper at Henry County Health Center. She retired in 2000. Always a homemaker, she enjoyed gardening and canning. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and visiting with friends. She was a member of the Hillsboro Baptist Church, and then moved her membership to the Round Prairie Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Maurice; a daughter, Terri Hodges; a son, Mark Hodges, all of Hillsboro; and two brothers, Donald (Dartha) Forbes of Graham, Texas, and Larry (Diana) Forbes of Piermont, New Hampshire. Preceding Joyce in death are her parents; and an infant brother, Richard Forbes.
