Jordan Kruse, 22, of rural Houghton, IA, died Saturday, April 15, 2006, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Visitation will begin after 12 noon on Tuesday, April 18, at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel in Mt. Pleasant, IA, where the family will greet friends beginning at 5:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at the Memorial Chapel, that evening, at 7:00 p.m., with the Rev. Dr. Edward R. Peterson officiating. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, April 19, at 10:30 a.m., at the St. John's Catholic Church in Houghton, IA, with the Rev. Gary Beckman officiating. Burial will be held in the St. John's Cemetery of Houghton. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the Iowa Donor Network. Jordan was born on December 6, 1983, in Mt. Pleasant, IA, to Vic and Linda Zuehlke Kruse. He was a 2002 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. He attended Kirkwood Community College for one year. Jordan helped his father on the family farm and worked for Stonehenge Kennels in West Point, IA. For the past year and a half he had been a professional dog breeder. He owned and operated J.N.K. Kennels, specializing in large breed dogs. Living life to its fullest, Jordan loved his family and his many friends. He enjoyed drumming, four-wheeling, and hunting. Jordan liked to play softball, volleyball, and cards. He had a smile for everyone and didn't know a stranger. Jordan is survived by his parents, Vic and Linda Kruse of Houghton, Iowa; two brothers, Josh Kruse and his fiance' Kara James of Davenport, IA, and Jake Kruse and his girlfriend Rahni Myler of West Point, IA; maternal grandparents, Raymond and Amelia Zuehlke of Mt. Pleasant, IA; and a paternal grandmother, Agnes Kruse of Fort Madison, IA. Jordan was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Lawrence Kruse.
