John William “Jack” Hall, age 87, of Grinnell, IA, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2023, at St. Francis Manor, in Grinnell, IA. Funeral service: 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 3, 2023, at Madison Church of Christ, rural Brooklyn, IA, with Rev. Joel Nielsen officiating. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, March 2, 2023, at Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn, IA. Interment will be in the Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery, Brooklyn, IA, with military honors conducted by the Brooklyn American Legion Post #294 and the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Memorials may be contributed to Madison Church of Christ, Brooklyn, IA.

Left to cherish Jack’s memory, is his wife Kathie, of 59 years; his children, Cory (Barb) Hall, of Grinnell, IA, and Jacqueline (Mike) Langas, of Byron, MN; three grandsons, Nathan (Emily) Hall, of Colorado Springs, CO, Brett Hall (Katurah McKee), of North Liberty, IA, and Alexander Langas, of Byron, MN; three great-grandchildren, Tucker, and twins Edison and Lena Hall, all of Colorado Springs, CO; a sister, Carol Klein, of Brooklyn, IA; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Glen and Madeline Hall, a sister Mirriam Andes and two brothers, Norman and Don Hall.

John William Hall was born January 31, 1936, in Grinnell, IA, the son of Glen and Madeline (Speeter) Hall. Jack attended the Madison #9 country school and graduated in 1954 from Brooklyn High School. Following graduation, he served in the United States Army and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Jack was united in marriage to Kathie Elizabeth Galbraith on June 16, 1963, in Montezuma, IA. Jack was a dairy farmer and loved everything about farming and country life. After Jack retired from farming, he was employed at the Poweshiek County ASCS, in Malcom, IA and Halls Feed and Seed, in Brooklyn, IA. He was one of the founding members of the Poweshiek Rural Water Association board. Jack was a member of the Madison Church of Christ and served as a deacon and trustee. He was also a member of Farm Bureau of Poweshiek County, Mid America Dairyman Association and was a 4-H leader of the Madison Go Getters.

Jack enjoyed collecting toy tractors, classic model cars and listening to country and gospel music. Jack loved attending the county fair and taking vacations to Rochester and St. Charles, MN. Most of all, Jack loved his family, spending time with them and cherished all of their life accomplishments.

The family wishes to extend a thank you to all the nurses and staff at St. Francis Manor, in Grinnell, IA, for their kind compassion and care.
