Williamsburg-John William Appleget was born August 20, 1929 near Ollie, Iowa, the son of Dallas Dale and Clarys Eloise (Moore) Appleget. He graduated from Sigourney High School and attended Iowa State University in Ames. John served in the Korean War from 1950 to 1954, he was an Airman 1st Class in the United States Air Force. John was united in marriage to Mary Serena Beach on November 1, 1953 in Sigourney, Iowa. The couple lived in Seneca, IL while John worked at Caterpillar Tractor Company as a machinist for 32 years. After John's retirement the couple moved to Williamsburg in 1994. He was a active member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Williamsburg and enjoyed woodworking. He was a good, hard working man. John died Monday, January 14, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City at the age of 83 years. John is survived by his wife Mary of Williamsburg; two sons: Charles (Danita) Appleget of Joliet, Illinois and Roy (Katie) Appleget of Fairfield, Iowa; four grandchildren; eleven great granchildren; and a brother James Appleget of Mitchellville, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter: Mary Charlene Appleget and a brother; Paul Appleget. Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 AM on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Williamsburg. Rev. James Parks will officiate. Burial will be held 1:00 PM in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Sigourney. Visitation will be on Friday from 4-7 PM at the Powell Funeral Home, Williamsburg. A general memorial fund has been established.
