Sigourney- John Patrick Strohman Sr. was born June 26, 1934, near Keswick, Iowa, a son of Leo Ambrose and Mary Agnes (Dunn) Strohman. He attended Loras Academy and graduated from Campion Academy, Prairie du Chein, WI , in 1952. On September 3, 1957, he married Grace Earle Lambert in Fairfield, Iowa. He was a career Air Force Officer, where he flew B52's, during the Vietnam Conflict. John retired from the Pentagon in 1976, after retirement he went to work for Martin - Marietta. He was a member of St Mary's Catholic Church, Sigourney and the Retired Officer's Association. He enjoyed golfing, computers, farming, tractors and he loved to maintain the grounds and gardens at their home in Florida on his "Mighty Yanmar". John died on Thursday, August 19, 2010, at the Keokuk County Health Center at the age of 76 years. He is survived by his wife Grace of Sigourney; 4 children- Kyle Strohman of Gainesville, FL, John Patrick Strohman Jr., Sandra Elaine Strohman and Tracee Strohman all of Tallahasse, FL; 4 sisters Katie (John) Grady of LeClaire, Sister Helen Strohman of Canton, MS, Rita Strohman of Des Moines and Sheila (Howard) Falk of Bloomfield, NJ; and a sister-in-law Kathleen Marie Strohman, of Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Terreasa, a brother Joseph, a sister Martha Flynn, an infant sister Marie and a nephew Mike Strohman. Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 21, 2010, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sigourney. Fr. Charles Fladung and Deacon Francis Dunn will officiate. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be held on Friday, from 5-8 pm at the Powell Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Sigourney. A general memorial fund has been established.
