Ladora-John J. (Jack) Conlon was born November 2, 1925 in Providence, Rhode Island, the son of Frances R Conlon. He graduated from LaSalle Academy. Jack served in the US Navy during WWII. Jack was united in marriage to Bernice Crowley Martin on May 23, 1981 in Providence. He grew up and lived in the Rhode Island area until 1987, when they moved to Chelsea, Iowa, from there, they lived in California for a few years before returned back to live in Ladora, Iowa. Jack enjoyed being a father to Bernice's children, reading and watching football. Jack died Saturday, March 10, 2007 at his daughters home in Williamsburg after a long illness at the age of 81 years. He is survived by his wife Bernice of Ladora; eleven children: Dorothy Uthoff of Williamsburg, Charles Martin of Marengo, Louise Shappy of Johnston, RI, Charlotte Quigley of Rumford, RI, David Martin of North Kingstown, RI, Sheila Hinds of Turlock, CA, Marie LaChance of Coventry, RI, Joanne Kowal of East Greenwich, RI, James Martin of Exeter, RI, Michelle Wright of Modesto, CA and Yvonne Noel of West Kingston, RI; 24 grandchildren: (local grandchildren include: Doug & Ann Schwarting and Steve & Elaine Iburg); 23 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his mother. Funeral Services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 15, 2007 at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg. Fr. Joseph Roost will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Williamsburg. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
