John Charles Custer

South English- John Charles Custer was born April 23, 1954 in Sigourney, Iowa the son of Paul Joseph & Byrna Rae (Meyer) Custer. He graduated from Tri-County High School in 1972 and attended UNI College. On May 24, 1986 John was united in marriage to Robin Ronae Wiseman at the Webster United Methodist Church. He worked for the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier for 38 years. John served on the English Valley School Board for many years as well as the Modern Coop Phone Company Board for many years. He enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals and spending time with his grandsons. John died on Monday, September 20, 2021 at the Keokuk County Health Center in Sigourney, Iowa at the age of 67 years.

He is survived by his wife Robin of South English; two children Andrew (Erin) Custer and Abby (Adam) Kerkove all of North English; three grandchildren Abe & Cy Custer and Bennett Kerkove; two brothers Jim (Harriett) Custer of Anna Cortez, Washington and Joe Custer of Cleaveland Heights, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents and a sister Jackie Gregan.
