Millersburg dateline Johanna G. Montross, was born on July 19, 1914, in Eufort, Germany, the daughter of Otto and Clara Heynert. She attended a finishing school in Paris. She was a RN in Germany.After WWII she came to the United States, where she was a LPN. Johanna met Lloyd Leslie Montross in Cedar Rapids, and they were united in marriage on February 18, 1960, in Maryville, Missouri. After they were married they lived on the farm near Millersburg. Johanna was a member of the United Methodist Church in Millersburg. She enjoyed cooking and gardening. Johanna died on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City following a short illness. Johanna lived 94 years, 2 months and 18 days. She is survived by her husband Lloyd Montross of Millersburg; a daughter Susanna Stouder of Ft. Madison, IA; 3 grandchildren: Sabrina Straka, Heidi Liegal and Adam Jensen. 2 great grandchildren: Jacob Staka and Aimee Liegal. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband Chester Hampton; 4 sisters; and a brother. A Celebration of Life Service will held at 10:30 AM on Friday, October 10, 2008 at the United Methodist Church in Millersburg with Pastor Ben Wilson officiating. Visitation will be from 4 PM to 7 PM on Thursday, October 9, 2008 at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English. Burial will be in the Millersburg Cemetery, Millersburg, IA.
